Donald E. McGreer
I am currently retired after 35 years in the Chemistry Dept of
UBC. I remember the inadequate process of disposing of surplus
chemicals. We took barrels of them to a landfill where we buried
some, burned some and disposed of others ie: bottles containing
sodium, by throwing them in the creek and breaking them with rocks.
This influenced me at UBC where we set up a chemical inventory
and exchange system and eventually set up a proper incineration
and disposal site. I'm sure things are done differently now at
UI.
