About the Director
Dr. Ellen Wang Althaus is the Director of the Women in Chemistry Programs at Illinois. After receiving a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Carleton College (1989), Dr. Althaus earned her M.S. (1991) and Ph.D. (1995) in inorganic chemistry at Northwestern University under the direction of Professor Thomas O’Halloran. Upon completion of her doctorate, she was a visiting assistant professor at Wheaton College, IL before moving to the Champaign-Urbana area. Dr. Althaus taught chemistry at the University of Illinois and joined the department as Director of Women in Chemistry Programs in the spring of 2006.
