Senior Analytical Chemist for Validation Resources, LLC
Summary:
This position takes a lead role in growing and improving analytical methods and scientific processes of the company. The right applicant must have expert level experience in HPLC-UV, GC-MS and LC-MS systems. Laboratory position includes performing analyses of pharmaceutical formulations using standard instruments, methodologies and established procedures; utilizing HPLC-UV, LC-UV-MS, GC-MS and FTIR systems to identify trace unknowns; evaluating all processes to assure the accurate and reliable generation of data. Mass spectral interpretation is required for the identification of trace unknowns. Position also includes analytical system troubleshooting and development/validation of LC and GC methods.
Required Education:
- PhD in Analytical Chemistry or PhD in Chemistry with four years experience in a position with analytical chemistry as primary function
- Knowledge of polymer chemistry and polymer additives is a plus
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned).
- Perform analytical testing to detect, identify and quantitate trace organic contaminants in pharmaceutical formulations;
- Develop protocols, reports and procedures to meet cGMP (current Good Manufacturing Practices) requirements as it relates to a controlled laboratory;
- Provide technical guidance to laboratory staff;
- Troubleshoot analytical instrumentation;
- Serve as Study Director for FDA auditable studies;
- Lead new scientific programs to support business goals;
- Publish in peer-reviewed journals;
- Give presentations at professional society meetings.
Competency:
- Mandatory instrument knowledge & experience: HPLC-UV, LC-MS, GC-MS
- Additional instrument experience: UV-Vis, FTIR, TOC
- Chemical preparation methods: Liquid Liquid Extraction, Solid Phase Extraction, Gel Permeation Chromatography, Size Exclusion Chromatography
- Able to develop and follow protocols for cGMP, FDA-auditable analytical procedures
- Experience in GMP, GLP or ISO environment a plus

- Strong technical writing skills
- Versatility to enable varied duties of small organization
- Team oriented with strong leadership and mentoring skills
