Hartwig Awarded 2007 Sackler Prize in Chemistry
Professor John Hartwig of the Department of Chemistry at the University of Illinois was recently awarded the 2007 Raymond and Beverly Sackler Prize in the Physical Sciences - Chemistry.
Hartwig received the award in May during a one day symposium honoring the distin-guished laureates and as part of the Tel Aviv University Board of Governors' Annual Meeting. According to the award citation, John's selection was "for his seminal contri-butions to: Catalysis based on late-transition metal complexes, enabling widely applica-ble organic synthesis and deep mechanistic insight".
