University of Illinois undergraduate admission information may be found at http://www.admissions.uiuc.edu. Prospective students may use this site to apply online or may download and print an admissions application. Applications are available for use on September 1.
For Fall admission the application forms should be completed and submitted to the Admissions Office between October 1 and November 15. Applications received before November 15 will be given priority, however, applications received between November 15 and January 2 will still be considered if the program has not been filled.
The entrance credits required from high school must include at least three years of English, three and one-half years of mathematics (two years of algebra, one year of plane geometry, and one-half of trigonometry), three years of one foreign language, two years in science (beyond general science), and one year of social studies. If possible, students are encouraged to take a fourth year of English, at least one year of both chemistry and physics, and any advanced mathematics or science courses offered, including computer science.
Admission to Chemical Engineering is very competitive, and is based on both high school rank in class and college entrance exam scores. The admission criteria vary somewhat from year to year; for a rough idea of what exam score and rank in class will be needed see the College of Engineering chart of estimated admission requirements in the admissions information packet. Students attending high schools which give college-level courses may use these to fulfill college requirements either by means of advanced placement examinations given while they are in high school, or through the College-Level Examination Program (CLEP), or by placement examinations administered by the University of Illinois.
