Biography

I graduated with a B.A. degree in Chemistry from Illinois Wesleyan University in 2000 where I carried out undergraduate research in the laboratories of Professors Ram S. Mohan and Jeff A. Frick. I then worked for three years in drug discovery at Johnson & Johnson Pharmaceutical Research & Development in beautiful San Diego, CA.

My thesis work focuses on the extension of palladium-catalyzed vinylation using inexpensive polyvinylsiloxanes to aryl and heteroaryl bromides. We have demonstrated that fluoride and non-fluoride methods of investigation facilitate this transformation with high yield and generality. We are currently investigating the combination of these transformations to the sequential 1,2 cross-coupling of a bis(silyl)ethylene reagent.

I share my free time away from lab with my beautiful wife, Allyson, and our children, Andrew and Elizabeth.
