Biography
I did my undergraduate study in a beautiful country, New Zealand, where “kiwis” celebrate Christmas in summer and play rugby instead of football! I became interested in Organic Chemistry after working in the lab of Professor Brent Copp with a summer studentship in 2002. Under his guidance, I completed my Honors degree in 2004, where I investigated compounds with 4-thiazolidinone scaffold against the cell growth of Mycobacterium tuberculosis.
I am currently working on broadening the scope of the cross-coupling of alkenylsilanolates and aryl silanolates with aryl chlorides. A second project involves the 1,4-conjugate addition of organosilanolates to
a,b-unsaturated carbonyl compounds using a rhodium catalyst.
I love classical music. Chopin and Debussy are my favorite composers. I am also a big fan of NBA basketball.
