Biography
I graduated with a Bachelors of Science degree in Chemistry from the University of California, Irvine in 2003, after which I entered the Medicinal Chemistry and Molecular Pharmacology doctoral program at Purdue University. While at Purdue, my dissertation work involved the design and synthesis of hydrolytically stable analogues of alkenyldiarylmethane-(ADAM) based non-nucleoside HIV-1 reverse transcriptase inhibitors. As part of my doctoral work I also tried to elucidate the HIV-1 reverse transcriptase-independent antiviral mechanism through which some of the ADAMs operate. Upon receiving my doctorate in the summer of 2007 I joined the Denmark group as a postdoctoral researcher, where I am now attempting to develop catalytic asymmetric ‘homoaldol’ reactions of cyclopropanone acetals.
