Biography
During my undergraduate career, I was fortunate enough to perform organic research all 4 years. My undergraduate advisor, Dr. Ram S. Mohan, sparked my love for organic chemistry and experimentation during this time. I graduated with a BS degree with research honors from Illinois Wesleyan University in 2004.
My current project is studying the use of aryl silanolates in cross-coupling reactions to form biaryl compounds. These studies involve probing electronic effects of the silanolate as well as investigating various aspects of the reaction conditions towards optimization. Further insight into the mechanism of the biaryl cross-coupling reaction will also be studied with focus on the oxidation of phosphine ligands during the course of the reaction. These studies will be followed with attempts at new catalyst/ ligand design for the silicon-based cross-coupling reaction.
When I am not in lab, I enjoy spending time with my lovely wife (Lindsay) and our dog (Lucky). I am a football fanatic and cannot wait until fall every year.
