Biography
Early in my undergraduate career, I developed a fascination with organic chemistry while working as an intern in a drug discovery group at a small pharmaceutical company. I graduated with a bachelors degree from Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA in 2006. I carried out my undergraduate research in the laboratories of Professor Anthony Addison where I worked on the synthesis of imidazoline based ligands.
I subsequently came to the University of Illinois and joined the Denmark Research Group. My project entails the synthesis of enantioselective phase transfer catalysts using the tandem [4+2]/[3+2] nitroalkene cycloaddition developed in these laboratories.
In my spare time I enjoy movies, playing golf, and observing the shenanigans of monkeys on the National Geographic channel.
