Biography
I obtained a B.A. in Chemistry from Illinois Wesleyan University, where I
worked under the guidance of Professor Ram Mohan. While there I studied
different methods for the selective deprotection of acetals and methods for
iodolactonization. My senior thesis focused on bismuth(III) iodide catalyzed
chemoselective deprotection of acetals in water.
My current research project focuses on the exploration of different metals for
transmetalation within organosilanols. The goal of this project is to discover
novel approaches to utilize metals other than palladium, and thus provide
access to other transition metal catalyzed reactions via silicon based reagents.
In my free time I am a big collector! I have a million pennies, two Canadian
quarters and a buffalo nickel.
