SCOPE OF SERVICES
The Microanalysis lab provides two types of services: elemental analysis and isothermal titration microcalorimetry. NOTE: For details on all procedures please see sections on each instrument. The elements selected by the user determine which instruments the lab uses.ELEMENTAL ANALYSIS
There are three instruments the lab uses for elemental analysis:- CHN (for measuring carbon, hydrogen, and nitrogen in compounds)
- ICP (for measuring all metallic elements)
- TITRATION (for measuring halides and sulfur).
MICROCALORIMETRY
There is one instrument the lab uses for microcalorimetry (for measuring the heat generated or absorbed in liquid samples as a result of mixing two or more reactants). NOTE: Only liquids can be used in this instrument.
Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA)
The TGA analyzer measures weight changes of sample over a given temperature and pressure range under specific environmental conditions. NOTE: No corrosive gas can be used so far.
Differential Scanning Calorimeter (DSC)
The DSC 7 is used for the calorimetric measurement, characterization, and analysis of thermal properties of materials.
