Equipment Scheduling

The SMART, APEX, GADDS and SAXS machines may be reserved by School of Chemical Sciences clients by going to the scheduling calendar on the web. UIUC users initially log in to access the site. Please record your login and password for future use. Click here to register for calendar account.

The GADDS (WAXS) and SAXS instruments may be reserved in hourly increments on a 24/7 basis. GADDS and SAXS users must complete a two-hour introductory/safety course and submit a financial responsibility form before using either instrument.

The CCD instruments (APEX and SMART) may be reserved in 8-hour increments on most weekends. CCD (single crystal) users must complete a two-hour introductory/safety course and submit a financial responsibility form before hands-on use. Additionally, CCD users may submit single crystal samples for data collection by MCL staff during the week. A sample analysis form is available online at http://www.scs.uiuc.edu/x-ray/instruments/x-ray_form.pdf. This form must be printed and submitted with your CCD sample.

It is very important for people using the scheduling calendar to click on links in the calendar to see how long people have signed up for a machine. Unfortunately, there is no mechanism in the online calendar to keep people from overbooking the equipment so it is necessary for users to check the calendar carefully and only schedule use for times when others are not using the equipment.
