This edition of Euclid's Elements, supervised by the great translator and commentator Federico Commandino, was prepared in Commandino's home town, Urbino. It followed closely Commandino's own Latin translation printed in 1572 in Pesaro at the request of his ruler's son. A vernacular edition intended for the use of Italians not knowing Latin, it was prepared by students of Commandino and edited by Valerio Spacciuoli. The only edition published in Urbino, it follows Commandino's Pesaro edition quite closely and uses the same elegant founts and initials.
