Daniel Fenning was an eighteenth century writer of practical guides. Among his titles, besides The Young Algebraist's Companion, or, A New and Easy Guide to Algebra are: The American Youth's Instructor, or, A New and Easy Guide to Practical Arithmetic, The British Youth's Instructor, or, A New and Easy Guide to Practical Arithmetic, The Universal Spelling Book, or, A New and Easy Guide to the English Language and The Federal Ready Reckoner, or, Trader's Valuable Guide in Purchasing and Selling All Kinds of Articles By Wholesale and Retail. His guides promoted the idea of viewing the year as consisting of 13 28-day months.
